SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: The assistant strength and conditioning coach is responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of the strength and conditioning program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIIES:

• Instruct student-athletes on physical health, team concepts, safety, and sport-specific skills on both an individual and team basis
• Implement strength and conditioning programs designed to enhance and maximize performance of individual student-athletes and teams.
• Work with sport coaches and sports medicine staff to identify individual and team training needs specific to the team/season. Coordinate with athletic training staff to ensure proper injury rehabilitation activities/exercises and protocol are performed.
• Implement testing procedures designed to identify areas of improvement and to record progress of training programs

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor fitness center(s) to ensure safety of all users.
• Teach, advise and mentor student-athletes on life-skills.
• Support academic progress of student-athletes/teams to exceed athletic department standards; intervenes with appropriate corrective action as needed.
• Maintain acceptable student-athlete retention rates to the team and/or institution.
• Refer students/faculty/staff to the Center for Wellness and Counseling or certified medical providers as situations arise.
• All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sport Specific - playing surface, indoor/outdoor, weather, season.
• Evenings, weekends and travel required.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred.
• At least three (3) years of experience required, collegiate experience preferred. Facility supervision experience also preferred.
• Strength and Conditioning certification required in conjunction with NCAA rules and regulations, CSCS certification preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge and adherence to the MIAC Code of Ethics.
• Follow MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines and regulations, while exhibiting behavior that represents a positive image of the athletic program and the college.
• At least three (3) years of strength and conditioning experience
• Integrity and leadership skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills
