Job Description:

We are seeking instructors dedicated to excellence in teaching who desire to make a difference in the lives of our students. Teaching assignments are primarily located on the Alert Lea Campus. The instructor may be assigned to teach in a traditional classroom and lab format as well as online, hybrid, and interactive television formats.

This full-time or part-time assignment will be listed as a temporary position for one year, and may lead to an ongoing unlimited faculty position. It will be located primarily on the Albert Lea campus. The instructor may be assigned to teach courses in Lathes, Milling Machines, Jigs & Fixtures, Basic Hydraulics, Electrical Maintenance, Machine Repair and Preventative Maintenance.

The candidate must be able to work cooperatively with faculty and staff, demonstrate knowledge of and experience in assessment of student learning outcomes, participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and maintain ongoing professional development activities.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
  • Two year diploma from an industrial mechanics and maintenance technology program
  • OR
  • Two year diploma in machine tool technology/machinist.


Occupational Experience Requirement
  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in industrial mechanics and maintenance technology or machine tool technology/machinist.

Recency Requirement
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Undergraduate teaching experience;
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body including multilingual or multicultural and underserved populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machining equipment such as Lathes and Milling Machines.
