To provide coordination for the hospital-wide Skin/Wound and Ostomy Program including but not limited to:
Serves as a resource/consultant for all departments regarding skin/wound and ostomy management issues to promote hospital wide quality skin/wound and ostomy management.
Conducts/ participate in research focused on skin/wound and ostomy management across varied patient populations.
Collects, compiles and interprets data on hospital skin/wound and ostomy care audits and prepares reports for committees.
Develops, coordinates, delivers and /or evaluates skin/wound and ostomy educational activities for hospital staff, patients and family members.
Leads outcome-based approach to patient care by insuring evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary care delivery.
Minimum Education:â¢Graduate of a state approved School of Registered Nursing. â¢Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required. Master degree preferred. Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢3 years acute care nursing experience preferred. â¢A minimum of 2 years formal or informal experience in an educator role. â¢Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients. â¢Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills. â¢Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision. â¢Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word as well as Internet and access and utilization. â¢Ability to participate in and utilize research for improvement of patient-care practices. Required License/Certification:â¢Valid California Registered Nurse License. â¢Current Basic Cardiac Life Support training. â¢Advance Cardiac Life Support training preferred. â¢CWOCN, preferred. If no certificate upon hire, one must obtain within 12 months of hire, and maintain renewal. â¢Los Angeles City Fire and Safety Training. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintain renewal before expiration date.
