The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies is inviting applications for part-time, temporary teaching positions for openings that may occur beginning Fall 2021 through Summer 2022 to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students. This posting does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should an opening occur for AY 2021/2022. Appointments may be renewable in following years based upon need, funding and performance. Position title and salary vary according to qualifications and funding. Duties: (1) Teaching undergraduate students in assigned course(s). (2) Holding office hours to assist and advise students. (3) Participating in department meetings and service to the department.
Required: MA (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and at least one year of teaching experience (or the equivalent) in higher education. Extensive knowledge of the disciplines of Classics and Near Eastern Religions and Cultures including one or more of the following: classics, religions, Biblical studies, relevant ancient or modern languages, or related fields.
Preferred: PhD or advanced degree in Classics or Near Eastern Religions and Cultures and the equivalent of two years' teaching experience at the collegiate level in the specific desired disciplinary fields, with documented evidence of teaching excellence.
