The Rokers Vision Laboratory (RVL) in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Assistant to work on projects focused on the assessment of the neural mechanisms underlying visual perception and to manage the day-to-day functioning of the lab. Applicants with a strong interest in the visual system, good organization skills and prior programming experience are encouraged to apply.
Research in the Rokers Vision Laboratory (https://nyuad.nyu.edu/en/research/faculty-labs-and-projects/rokers-vision-laboratory.html) focuses on the study of the neural mechanisms of visual perception using behavioral, neuroimaging and computational methods. Central goals of the laboratory are the study of the neural mechanisms underlying motion and depth perception and spatial heterogeneities across the visual field. To achieve these objectives, research projects rely on behavioural studies, eye-tracking, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as well as virtual and augmented reality.
Responsibilities of the research assistant include collecting behavioral data, programming experiments, analysis routines and training new lab members. The position also includes administrative duties, such as managing the lab finances and grants, writing IRB protocols, ordering lab supplies and equipment, developing software and documentation.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in science or equivalent and prior experience in a lab setting. The ideal candidate will have extensive programming experience with MATLAB, strong computational skills, and a background in experimental psychology or neuroscience. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
