The Cardiovascular Division at the University of Minnesota has established a regional and national reputation in cardiovascular research. The Division is now recruiting three basic science research professors (tenured, tenure-track, research track), to expand this mission as a member of the Cardiovascular Division, Department of Medicine and the Lillehei Heart Institute. The candidates will work closely with Cardiovascular Division and the Lillehei Heart Institute to expand the University’s research academic missions. These positions will be based on 100% research effort.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - As an independent principle investigator, hires, supervises, trains, mentors and assigns appropriate lab work and efforts to lab staff - Is knowledgeable and compliant with policies and procedures for research - Writes and presents papers for publication and development of grant submissions. - Determines direction of research efforts with deep understanding of current and previous research and external research papers - Establishes experimental hypotheses and designs experiments and develops research methodology - Ensures accurate collection and analysis of data gathered in research experiments and able to interpret data using statistical methodology. - Obtains sufficient external funding to independently support the lab and your salary.
Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.

Applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD or equivalent degree in biophysics, biochemistry, physiology or related area and have demonstrated high-level qualifications and in depth knowledge in the area of cardiovascular and/or electro physiology basic science research. Candidates should have experience in leading and support of basic science research and a publication track record of successful research.
