Metropolitan State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and recipient of the 2019 Insight into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire an Associate Vice President for Development and Senior Operating Officer of the Metropolitan State University Foundation.This is a full-time/probationary position within the Advancement Division. The AVP will provide strategic direction and leadership to the Development activities of the University Advancement Division including the Metropolitan State University Foundation. The position is responsible for leading the fundraising/major gifts staff, external relations, gift tracking and accounting staff and special fund-raising events as well as supporting the goals of the Foundation Board of Trustees. Develops and implements policies and procedures for major advancement and development activities and institutional relations in alignment with the strategic plans and academic policies and programs of the university.

The successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment, which demonstrates the following leadership competencies:
Provide executive leadership to the development operations of the University Advancement Division to meet the strategic initiatives of the president and senior leadership.
Collaborate with the Vice President of University Advancement and the Foundation Executive Director on development priorities and planning.
Direct and implement external relations, development and foundation policies and procedures aligned with university and foundation policies to maximize program outreach to achieve the strategic plan of the division and the university.
In collaboration with the Foundation Executive Director, provide executive leadership to achieve the strategic goals of the Foundation Board of Trustees.
Provide strategic consultation and leadership to the Foundation Board committees.
Lead the creation and administration of the program to solicit donors to this fund, ensuring proper fiscal management and oversight of all contributions.
Providing strategic consultation and leadership to the scholarship committees.
Interpret and research state and federal laws governing race-and gender-conscious scholarships to ensure compliance and alignment with the strategic goals of the scholarship program and desires of the donor.
At least eight (8) years of leadership and supervisory experience working in an advancement office and with board level volunteers.
Membership in a professional fundraising organization
Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse environment.
Professional Licensure/Certification: CFRE
At least ten (10) years of leadership and supervisory experience working in an advancement office and with board level volunteers.
Experience in presenting at fundraising conferences (CASE, AFP. Planned Giving)

Salary: This Administrator position is assigned to a Range 6, as outlined in the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Personnel Plan for Administrators (see link below), and is commensurate with education and experience.
