Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
*About the Job: The Hogan Lab at the University of Minnesota seeks a lab technician to assist with multiple research projects related to aerosol transport and measurement, with applications including supersonic-to-hypersonic particle impacts with surfaces, condensation and coagulation, agricultural sprays, and virus aerosol sampling and control technologies. The lab technician will contribute to multiple research projects, general lab maintenance (ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, cleaning, etc.), and lab meetings.
*Duties/responsibilities: Computer aided design and project management (50%) Maintain lab equipment, organization, and cleanliness (25%) Prepare for and participate in lab/research meetings (15%) Learn key scientific background and equipment operation protocols for experiments (10%)
Required qualifications -BS/BA in Engineering or Science or a combination of education (including a technical college degree) and work experience to equal 4 years -Experience with computer aid design (CAD, AutoCAD, Creo, Solidworks, etc.) -Experience in managing computer systems -Experience presenting results in graphical form -Attention to detail -Works independently -Lab experience -Experience creating and maintaining detailed scientific databases
*Preferred qualifications: - Comfortable working with hands and mechanical experience - Experience with hand tools, power tools, piping and fittings - Experience in Design work - 3D printing, machining, laser cutting - High level of organization - Use/maintenance of lab equipment such as measurement devices, scales, pipettes, flow meters, particle scanners, gas meters, etc. - Experience or interest in aerosols - Understanding of sensors and data acquisition
