The Department of French and Italian in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota occassionally needs teaching specialists or lecturers to teach courses in French and Italian that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students. These positions may be full- or part-time for fall 2020, spring semester 2021, and summer. These positions are for day, evening, or a combination of day/evening courses, taught on a semester basis. Salary range is competitive based upon qualifications.
This does not constitute a postings for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should opening occur during the 2020/21 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through the academic year.
Duties and responsibilities: Teach assigned language classes/sections; keep office hours; prepare course materials; engage in curriculum development; prepare and grade exams; and participate in program meetings as appropriate.
M.A. or foreign equivalent, in French, Italian, or related area. Native or near-native fluency in French or Italian.
Strong English language communication skills, and
University-level teaching experience in French or Italian language.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in French, Italian, or related area, with two or more years of university-level teaching experience in French or Italian language.
Candidates with a Masters degree will be appointed as Teaching Specialist; candidates with a Ph.D. will be appointed as Lecturer.
