The Minnesota Grow Your Own Teachers Program (MNGOT) in the Multiple Pathways to Teaching (MPT) Program, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) has openings for temporary, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) positions, paid on a per course basis, and appointed as Teaching Specialist/Lecturer. These appointments are typically arranged semester by semester or summer and employment is contingent upon the course meeting its enrollment target.
This appointment is specifically for the Fall 2019, Spring 2020 and Summer 2020.
Applications are reviewed as openings occur, and individual applicants are invited to interview when their skills or areas of expertise match an opening. This posting is designed to establish a pool of instructors. Applications will not be acknowledged, but will be reviewed when such openings occur throughout the academic year.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching graduate level courses for students pursuing initial licensure, and clinical supervision. We seek to hire individuals who are interested in teaching and/or supporting clinical supervision throughout the program. The syllabi have already been developed and we require that instructors use these as they are part of an overall program design.
Teach credit-bearing, graduate courses on course topics related to Elementary Education and Foundations of Education.
Attend class meetings, teach, and deliver course content.
Evaluate student performance.
Grade student materials, including exams, papers and final projects.
Observe and supervise students in the program.
Collaborate coaches in order to align individual teacher candidate support.
Complete co-teaching training
Prepare course materials.
Maintain regular and accessible contact with residents
Respond to inquiries and meet with students.
Earned Master's Degree in an education field
K-12 Teaching License in applicable area (Elementary Education)
At least 1 year of teaching experience in licensure area
Are actively engaged in professional organizations, other education-related endeavors at the local, state, or national levels, and ongoing involvement in prekindergarten through grade 12 schools
Earned Ph.D. in an education field
Demonstrated leadership in education
Evidence of being able to work within a team
Evidence of organizational ability, including the ability to coordinate multiple tasks
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated experience with or interest in alternative routes to licensure
Teaching experience in higher education
Evidence of the capacity to be a problem solver
