The Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota is accepting applications for part-time positions to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students for openings that may occur in Fall 2020 (August 31, 2020 - January 13, 2021); or Spring 2021 (January 14, 2021 - May 30, 2021). Teaching may be for day or evening courses. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2020/21 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.
Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare for and teach courses, create course Canvas sites, hold office hours, turn grades in on time, receive official e-mails and respond in a timely manner, submit an activity report, and turn in student evaluations.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree in English or a closely related field and a minimum of two years college teaching experience
Preferred qualifications: Three years or more college teaching experience and broad familiarity with English language, literature, and writing
