The Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota is accepting applications for positions to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students. These positions are for full-time, temporary 9-month teaching appointments for the 2020-21 academic year (August 31, 2020 - May 30, 2021) with a teaching load of 3 courses in fall semester and 3 courses in spring semester. Teaching may be for day or evening courses. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt, but will be reviewed if openings occur. Applications must be updated or re-submitted for each academic year.
Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare for and teach courses, create Canvas course sites, hold office hours, turn grades in on time, receive official e-mails and respond in a timely manner, submit an activity report, and conduct mid-term and end of year student rating of teaching evaluations for your courses.
Minimum qualifications: PhD or an equivalent terminal degree in English or a closely related field and a minimum of two years of college teaching experience
Preferred qualifications: Three years or more of college teaching experience and broad familiarity with English language, literature, and writing
