The Assistant Director of The Center for Equal Access is responsible for supporting students with disabilities at the College. This position serves as a disability subject matter expert for the College; coordinates reasonable accommodations for students in graduate, extended and online programs as well as traditional students in nursing programs; coordinates accommodations in clinical and fieldwork environments for Nursing and Health Science programs; and oversees the day-to-day operation of the office by working directly with students, faculty, staff, and other constituents to ensure equitable access for students in all aspects of The College.
Responsibilities: - Oversee the process of establishing reasonable accommodations consistent with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and identified best practices within the field. - Coordinate Assessment and Reporting efforts for The Center for Equal Access. - Participate in CSS and greater community partnerships supporting the mission of The College and Center for Equal Access - Provide training and support to faculty, staff and students on philosophy, policies and procedures related to equal access - Assist direct supervisor with daily operations and supervision of staff as needed.
Education and Experience: Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in social work, special education or a related field; AND four (4) years of professional experience working with people with disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred qualifications include a Masters Degree in a related field (MSW,LPCC, MEd.) or certifications (CRC, RESNA); three to five years serving students with disabilities or related populations; case management skills; or work in a higher education institution
