North Hennepin Community College, one of the largest and most diverse two-year colleges in Minnesota, is accepting applications for an Unlimited, Full-Time, Biology Instructor. This position is anticipated to start at the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester (August 19, 2020).
The Biology Department at NHCC is an engaged faculty interested in delivering the highest level of instruction to our students. Faculty members work as a team to consistently deliver content to students interested in pursuing their AS in Biology along with other professional programs in the allied health sciences. In partnership with Bemidji State University, students can earn their baccalaureate degree in Biology at the NHCC campus.

Teach microbiology along with a broad spectrum of biology courses (lecture and laboratory).
Teach in traditional as well as alternative delivery modes, including, but not limited to, asynchronous online format.
Develop and revise instructional and assessment materials.
Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
Participate in discipline, division, and college matters through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings.
Practice contemporary teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and online instruction.
Maintain continued professional development in Biology as well as in the areas of teaching and learning.
Flexible to teach during day, evening, and weekends.
Master's degree with a major in biology or
Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in biology.
Ph.D. in Biology (with a focus on microbiology or a related area).
Experience as primary instructor teaching college level microbiology, including laboratory.
Experience as primary instructor teaching other Biology courses with laboratory, including Biology courses for non-majors.
Experience teaching undergraduates in a community college setting.
Evidence of commitment to student success and persistence.
Experience with learner outcomes assessment and evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to educate adult learners, multi-lingual learners, students with disabilities, and international students.
Experience serving diverse and historically underserved populations.
Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Working knowledge of alternative instructional techniques and delivery methods such as online education, education platforms (D2L Brightspace), digital technology, etc.
Experience in online teaching or demonstrated willingness to learn and develop online courses.
Flexibility to teach daytime, evening, and weekend sections.
Exceptional team player who is willing to devote time to students and the department.

Full-Time faculty salaries currently range from $37,437 - $82,417 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2017-2019 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF).
Full-time, unlimited faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance; life insurance; optional dental, short-and long-term disability and long-term care insurance; paid personal and sick leave; defined benefits and defined contribution plans; optional 457(b) and 403(b) retirement savings plans and tuition waiver for employees and dependents.
