Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Responsibilities: 1. Research project management, which includes planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Take a lead in the implementation and execution of projects. 2. Active collaboration in design, implementation and monitoring of activities regarding swine disease eradication programs. 3. Create a platform for research management of respiratory swine diseases. Develop a comprehensive communication plan for various audiences of the compiled information regarding swine respiratory diseases. 4. Develop Standard Operating Programs (SOPs) for data curation and train group members on such SOPs. 5. Conduct literature reviews and writing up results of research. Contribute to publish and disseminate results in high quality peer-reviewed academic literature and high impact conferences. 6. Supervise and assist graduate and undergraduate students working on the research projects. Also, oversee the hiring and training of staff members involved on the studies. 7. Identify sources of funding and prepare materials for submission to putative granting agencies, foundations, commodity groups and private companies, securing funds for own or joint research. 8. Provide knowledge and understanding of field issues regarding swine health. This implies maintaining frequent and effective communication with swine producers by visiting farms, slaughterhouses and other facilities within swine production systems. 9. Constantly expand the professional network by participating in regular discussions with academic partners. Liaise with potential partners to enhance impact of research. 10. Discuss periodically work requirements and schedules with the immediate supervisor to assure the accomplishment of research priorities within the team. Provide ready access to all experimental data for the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 4 years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
