Job Description Summary
Sansom Place Complex Manager will manage the 24/7 daily operations of Sansom Place East and West, which houses undergraduates and graduate students, University guests, and offices. support services and programs.
Provides year-round behavioral and community support to applicable academic students i.e. Graduate Students and summer residents. Responsible for supporting any summer conferences and/or activities during the summer sessions. Oversees emergency response, front desk operations, security, and follows up on facilities and housekeeping issues. Implements residential policies, programs, and procedures. Serves as department liaison and works collaboratively with other University offices that provide support services and programs. Lives in University provided housing, participates in on-call rotation, and serves as essential personnel. Reports to the Associate Director of Building Operations.
Principal Position Responsibilities:
Hires, trains, and supervises up to 10 student staff who plan programs for the graduate community and provide resident support services. Manages one full time staff member who supports front desk and building operations and supervises up to 40 student staff year-round.
Responds to resident behavioral and facilities related concerns. Follows through to resolution. Enforces University policies.
Plans and executes Move-In, Move-Out, room turnover and inspection processes. Coordinates with Housing Assignments on early arrival/extension process. Responsible for supporting any summer conferences and/or activities during the summer sessions.
Oversees maintenance of building. Conduct inspections of emergency systems and common areas; follow up on issues. Schedule required drills
Act s as liaison to other university departments such as Student Intervention Services, Public Safety, Facilities, etc.
Conducts daily review of work orders and status of completion. Follow up on outstanding issues. Analyze data, report on problem areas and work with Facilities for resolution.
Communicates and implements policies and procedures. Creates and maintains communication channels including print, web, and social media.
Provide management of small projects for Sansom Place (scope, budget, schedule, stakeholder communication)
Work closely with colleagues in Assignments and Building Operations to plan and implement marketing strategies, coordinate resolution to student issues, and improve service delivery.
Experience in management and operations of residential facilities and high-level delivery of customer service in a college or university setting. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple, time-sensitive initiatives. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills. ability to work effectively with a diverse, multi-cultural population of undergraduate and graduate students. Experience recruiting, training, and supervising residential staff preferred
The Department of Residential and Hospitality Services provides essential 24/7 services for the University of Pennsylvania. This position is designated as "essential" and you are expected to work when normal campus operations are suspended (e.g.: inclement weather) or if there is an emergency impacting on-campus residents. In addition, you may be expected to work outside of your regular schedule during peak activity periods (e.g.: Move-In). To the extent possible, managers will provide timely notice of modified work schedules.
