This is a tenure-track assistant professor position. Review of complete applications will start December 9, 2019, and continue until the position is filled. The position has an official start date of August 24, 2020.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to developing an independent research program in computer science, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, engaging in departmental activities, pursuing external funding, advising undergraduate and graduate students from diverse groups, and participating in departmental and college outreach. Responsibilities also include fulfilling typical department, college, university and professional service obligations. The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
Ph.D. in computer science or a related discipline from a regionally accredited university by July 1, 2020
Demonstrated effective written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to teaching
Evidence of potential to develop a successful independent research program in a computer science discipline
Ph.D. in hand. Computer Security, Software Engineering, or Systems-related areas are preferred, but all areas of computer science will be considered for this position
Teaching experience in higher education
Publications, such as peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, white papers, or technical reports
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to support the University's goal of creating a positive and inclusive campus climate by advancing equity and diversity
Demonstrated effective oral communication skills
Experience working with diverse groups
Experience in effective teaching including active learning and course development
