Faculty Position (Tenured or Tenure-track) in Composition, Rhetoric, or Writing Studies (open rank) Center for Learning Innovation
The Center for Learning Innovation, an interdisciplinary department focused on health sciences, at the University of Minnesota Rochester, seeks applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenured or tenure track faculty position in Composition, Rhetoric, or writing studies to begin fall semester 2020. Applicants specializing in composition theory, pedagogy, or other teaching and learning research are particularly encouraged to apply. Secondary expertise in scientific rhetoric and writing, professional and technical writing, and Writing Across the Curriculum and/or Writing in the Disciplines (WAC/WID) will also be of particular interest. As a part of the Writing Integrated Curriculum (WIC) at UMR, writing is incorporated into the instruction of courses in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. This faculty member will work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues in an interdisciplinary department to teach stand-alone undergraduate writing courses as well as writing units within STEM and Human Sciences courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching and research excellence in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.
Earned PhD in Composition & Rhetoric, Writing Studies, or closely related field with degree conferred before the start date of the hire is required.
Demonstrate experience and commitment to the scholarship of student learning and engagement with a demonstrated passion for writing integrated within the curriculum.
Show experience designing, teaching, coordinating and/or composition courses at the undergraduate level.
Demonstrate familiarity with undergraduate health care education and/or expertise in a related discipline.
Work well in interdisciplinary teams; is enthusiastic about shaping a developing university; and successful experience with team teaching.
Have knowledge, experience and ongoing commitment to working with underrepresented and diverse students, including: People of color; new immigrant populations; American Indians; people with both visible and invisible disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; first-generation students; and/or students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
