The Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy at Montclair State University invites applications for the position of Department Chair (full professor or associate professor with prior Chair experience). The Department hosts New Jerseyâ™s premiere academic programs for students pursuing a career working on behalf of children, includingÂ B.A. and M.A. degrees in child advocacy and policy and an MSW with a concentration in children, youth, and families. The Departmentâ™s distinguished faculty include professionals from the disciplines that define public child welfare and family service, including social work, psychology, and law. This multidisciplinary lens provides students with a strong evidence-based foundation with which to navigate the systems of care that serve children, youth, and their families.
The Chair will supervise the Departmentâ™s existing academic programs, mentor and assist in the professional development of faculty and professional staff, provide strategic leadership for Department growth, cultivate synergistic collaborations with the greater New Jersey community, and lead the pursuit of external funding related to student development for both the child advocacy and MSW graduate programs. In addition, the chair will assist the MSW program director and core MSW faculty with CSWE accreditation compliance (the MSW program is currently in candidacy status with the CSWE. Full accreditation is expected spring 2020). Â
PhD (open discipline).
Full professor preferred, rank of Associate Professor will be considered with chair experience.
Demonstrated excellence in obtaining external funding, teaching and scholarship, and familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards.
Experience in program and curriculum development and college teaching experience.
SALARY RANGE: Salary dependent upon qualifications
STARTING DATE: September 1, 2020
