Position Description: The Assistant Coach is responsible for providing support to all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track and field program. This support advances the mission of intercollegiate athletics and the University. The assistant coach assists the head coach in student recruiting and retention efforts; supports the building of a diverse and inclusive team; coaches student athletes and fosters their skill development; assists in coaching plans and implementation at practices and competitions; provides for students’ safety, health and wellbeing; complies with NCAA, UMAC and university policies; provides sound fiscal management; assists in equipment oversight, scheduling, travel planning, and summer camps; assists in off-season programs and athlete development; and assists in program communication and fundraising efforts.
The University of Minnesota Morris Intercollegiate Athletics seeks an Assistant Track & Cross Country Coach. This is a full time 10-month annually renewable coaching appointment and includes night and weekend work. The appointment carries a $32,400 annual salary. Included in the appointment is 25% appointment as coordinator of Intramural and Rec Sports. The qualifications are as follows:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and competitive cross country and/or track and field playing and/or coaching experience is required. A master’s degree and coaching experience are preferred. Experience with sprints and jumping events in track and field is preferred. The position requires strong organization, oral and written communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. The preferred candidate will demonstrate an appreciation for NCAA DIII, be self-directed and motivated, work with integrity, and bring skills and abilities to help advance the program. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and submission of official transcripts.
