Description of Position The M Tech Store Supervisor is responsible for management of day-to-day operations of the M Tech Store within the Bookstores’ Coffman Memorial Union location. Responsibilities include hiring, training, directing, evaluating, and supervising M Tech Store staff, assisting customers, managing and controlling inventory, assisting in merchandise assortment planning and buying, establishing and maintaining customer relationships across the campus community and maintaining Apple certifications. This position also provides support for marketing and sales promotions for the store, merchandising displays, financial planning, budgeting, controls and results and oversees the management of the store’s Apple computer repair operation.
The M Tech Store Supervisor maintains accurate records including sales data, purchase orders, payroll deduction purchase programs, invoices, and special orders. They also prepare operational reports analyzing trends and proposing recommendations and conclusions based on data and develop, recommend and implement policies and procedures related to daily operations of the M Tech Store. Assist in the of the M Tech Store budget, monitor, verify and reconcile expenses against revenues to ensure compliance with established budget, recommend and implement appropriate action to eliminate budget variances, and make recommendations for increased savings, reduced costs, maximum utilization of resources and improved services.
The position reports directly to the Technology and Supplies Buyer Manager and supervises full-time and student staff.
Responsibilities • 30% Hire, train, schedule, assign work and supervise M Tech Store staff and student workers. • 25% Inform and assist customers with purchase decisions. • 15% Organize and manage the computer repair operation. • 15% Manage inventory and work with buyers on product needs and assortments. • 10% Plan and coordinate marketing efforts. • 5% Budgets and financial planning.
Essential Functions of the Position • Manage M Tech Store operations including hiring, training, directing, and supervising staff. • Ensure compliance with Apple and other vendor retailing requirements. • Maintain accurate records of sales data and purchase orders. • Manage the certified computer repair operations. • Control inventory and merchandise assortment and display. • Consult with customers. Establish and maintain effective customer relations. • Evaluate and follow through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated. • Stay current and knowledgeable on technology product and industry trends.
Salary Range: $19.22 - $28.83
Work Environment Work is performed mainly in a retail store and office setting.
Minimum Qualifications • BA/BA plus at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least 8 years. • Preferred: degree in MIS, computer science or a closely related field. • Preferred: Additional two years of experience in computer sales or service, retail, merchandising or related business. • Preferred: Supervisory experience. • Preferred: Apple certification.
