The School of Dentistry seeks candidates for a full-time Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position to lead the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This position can be fulfilled as Tenured or Tenure eligible, Tenure track or Clinical track position.
This person must be an experienced surgeon with a dedication and commitment to providing full scope quality care and service to patients, and be able to work with faculty, staff and students to provide a positive environment in which to accomplish this goal. The ideal candidate will be capable of developing a synergistic and collaborative team, creating and achieving a vision for the future of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS), and committed to teaching and developing our predoctoral students and OMS residents.The School of Dentistry promotes diversity and inclusivity among our students, faculty, staff, and public. Primary responsibilities include:
Overall responsibility for the predoctoral, faculty and graduate clinical education and practice programs within the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Delivery of clinical care in a University of Minnesota faculty practice
Didactic and clinical teaching for graduate and pre-doctoral students
Supervision of staff and faculty within the division
Oversight and management of clinic processes, policies and procedures, protocols and common practices within the division clinics
Mentorship of faculty and students, as well as support of other mentoring relationships throughout the division
Creation, promotion and encouragement of research opportunities within the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as the development of research collaborations with other divisions and departments
Active participation in School of Dentistry governance, including service on various committees
Participation in and promotion of continuing dental education and lifelong learning
DDS, DMD or equivalent degree
Completion of an accredited advanced education training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery (U.S. or U.S. equivalent)
Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeryor in the process of becoming Board Certified
Minnesota dental license or eligible for Minnesota dental license by start date (a Full Faculty License may be obtained in partnership with the School of Dentistry prior to start date if needed)
Proof of authorization to work in the United States by start of position.
Education and experience to be tenure eligible
Experience (Full-time desirable) providing patient care and supervision in an academic setting
Demonstrated history of quality clinical and didactic teaching with predoctoral students and/or OMS residents or fellows
Eligibility for providing moderate or deep sedation/general anesthesia in an out-patient setting
History of funded research and publication in oral and maxillofacial surgery or a related field
Experience working with a diverse patient base
Experience providing on-call services
Participation in institutional committees and governance
Administrative or management experience
Service as mentor to faculty and predoctoral students and/or OMS residents or fellows from diverse cultures and communities
Active participation or leadership in professional organizations
