The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), at the University of Minnesota is recruiting a full-time physiatrist specializing in medical spine management. We are seeking a dynamic and energetic professional who desires to lead the development of a medical spine program that supports multiple departments as the University of Minnesota Health (M Health) develops a multi-disciplinary, patient-centered medical spine program.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Forge partnerships, establish trust, and build strong relationships with referring departments and units to build and maintain the medical spine program. • Work collaboratively within the comprehensive spine program alongside providers and clinicians from other specialties including, but not limited to, orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery, imaging, pain, primary care, and physical therapy. • Outpatient evaluation; diagnostic work-up with or without performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic injections; management of non-surgical spine patients; and participation in a multi-disciplinary indications conference.
As of a multi-disciplinary team, this position will join an active clinical practice at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, and other affiliated sites, that provides care to patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Consisting of eight physicians and two advanced practice providers, our practice is dedicated to helping our patients reach their maximum potential. Faculty members mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals; including teaching, training, and general supervision in a clinical setting. Academic time is used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research expertise. Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited physical medicine & rehabilitation (PM&R) residency training program; be board-certified or board eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R); be eligible to obtain a Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license; and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. Applicants must possess the leadership skills to manage change and communicate effectively in a rapidly expanding department. Enthusiasm, a collaborative nature, and an interest in cultivating a thriving academic medical spine practice are essential to the success of the department and M Health’s Spine Program
• Fellowship trained in interventional spine, pain medicine, sports medicine, or other related discipline. • History of spine program management, or other related program development and management. • Experience collaborating with individuals across multiple departments, practices, and health systems.
