Job Description (Duties): This position will work with other study team members on an NIH funded study for the management of mechanical low back pain. Utilizes nursing process and standards to perform protocol-specific procedures and manage research subjects’ participation in a clinical research setting. This position is posted at 100%, a 75% appointment would be considered. This appointment will begin September of 2019 and run through 9/30/20, with potential for renewal providing funding remains in place and performance is satisfactory.
Research (100%) • Performs research screening activities with potential study participants to determine eligibility; includes performing informed consents, telephone and in-person clinical screenings--20% • Administers medications and treatments, as defined by study protocol (based on the American College of Physicians guidelines on noninvasive treatment for low back pain)--20% • Works with Study Coordinator and other study staff to develop, implement and manage study specific recruitment strategies to reach diverse populations, including but not limited to social media, print and web-based advertising; community outreach (e.g. health fairs, presentations, etc.) and other methods--20% • Participates in weekly meetings with study co-investigators and staff--15% • Collects and enters screening, treatment and follow up related data in web-based databases--10% • Identifies and assesses defined adverse events and reports as per study protocol--5% • Assists Study Coordinator with the creation and maintenance of manuals of operations and other study materials--5% • Conducts quality control checks--2.5% • Contributes to the production of research publications or presentation of research data--2.5% • Other research related duties as assigned
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications: BS degree in Nursing with at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience equal to 8 years. Requires current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience using pharmacological therapies for pain management Previous experience working in research settings
