This position is responsible for oversight of compliance activities and will contribute to the achievement of key functions including, but not limited to, areas of coding, billing, reimbursement and providing education and support to staff in order to achieve compliance. This position is a growth opportunity working with the Director of Patient Accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducts objective reviews of charges along with documentation for faculty and residents to determine accurate CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes used for billing services provided. • Provides educational sessions with physicians to discuss audit results and provide recommendations where warranted. • Keeps current with medical compliance and reimbursement policies, such as medical necessity and correct coding issues. • Provides training and education on coding, documentation and other compliance issues to faculty, residents and other staff on an ongoing basis. • Provides coding and documentation orientation training and education to new faculty, residents and staff. • Research various compliance and documentation issues. • Responds to and tracks third party inquiries regarding level of service coding by faculty and residents. • Working with billing, reviews Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s) from payers, evaluating denied claims, for appeals. • Develop tools for faculty and residents use to aid with documentation and billing. • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors, and politeness to customers, vendors and patients.
• Provide direct Evaluation and Management coding for UMP GPR Clearance Patient Charges. • Review Oral Radiology Orthopantogram coding for charge entry. • Review, code and enter all Medicare charges for TMD and OSM clinics. • Review and code OSA (DME) claims. • Serves as liaison between coding, billing personnel and faculty/residents. • Primarily medical coding assistance

Estimated Salary: $55,000-$59,000
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
BA/BS with at least two years of experience in health care compliance, internal audit, coding, billing, finance or other related field; or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years.
Certified as a CPC or CCS-P
Proficient in ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT, and HCPCS procedure and professional supply coding classification system
Strong writing and communication skills.
Comfortable working independently with problem solving skills.
Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience in creating and giving presentations to individuals and groups
Project management experience
Experience researching and interpreting CMS regulations (Medicare and Medical Assistance).
