This position has the responsibility for quality food production, cleanliness and customer service to meet the needs of a diverse population of University of Minnesota Morris students, faculty, staff, visitors, and friends in Dining Services.
This position is represented by the Teamsters Local 320 bargaining unit. According to article 2.1 of the Teamster/University bargaining agreement, employees will work more than 67 days in a year, or more than 14 hours/week (35% time).
Employees in Dining Services are University of Minnesota employees, supervised by Sodexo management staff, UMM’s contracted food service management company, and are governed by the Teamsters and University bargaining unit agreement.
Maintain quality and cleanliness standards 20% • Follows established food handling procedures. Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in work area (i.e., cleans work surfaces, wipes up spills). Follows established safety procedures. Observes and communicates to supervisors temperature variations not up to required standards. Reports breakdown of equipment to supervisor. • Puts away supplies. Communicates shortages in food and/or supplies within adequate time for restocking prior to meal period. Collects food and/or supplies needed prior to actual service. Prepares supply items in advance of actual assembly (i.e., wraps silverware, lines trays, fills dispensers, etc.). Assembles and portions food items for /meal service to meet campus food presentation standards. • Communicates any shortages of dinner shift scheduled labor to management and or changes that need to be looked at in the schedules.
Supervision Positions in this classification receive supervision from senior food operations personnel. These positions are typically non-supervisory in nature. This position reports to the UMM Dining Services General Manager and their management team. The General Manager is a part of Sodexo management staff, UMM’s contracted food service management company.
The University of Minnesota Morris Dining Services seeks a Food Service Worker AM Dining position. This position is 9 month, 40 hours per week/100% time, days and hours vary during week and will include weekends. Most weeks will be Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm. This position is represented by a Bargaining Unit: Teamsters.
The qualifications are as follows:
Essential knowledge, skills and abilities
Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language
Must have at least six months experience in a large food operation or quantity food production
Must be able to perform simple math calculations
Must be able to move up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
Must be able to stand for up to four hours at a time
