The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Biophysics seeks a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to serve as the Director for the NMR center. The Director is expected to provide overall academic leadership for the Center and represent the unit both inside and outside of the University. The Center Director is expected to maintain a creative and vibrant research program and be a leader in the community scholars studying cellular biophysics.
Duties/Responsibilities: The candidate is expected to establish a strong program in Structural Biology and Biophysics in association with the Minnesota NMR Center (http://www1.umn.edu/nmr/). This high-field facility consists of several high-field spectrometers, including a 900, 850, two 700 and two 600 MHz spectrometers equipped with cryogenic probes, in addition, two solid-state NMR spectrometers equipped with MAS and static NMR probes.
They will contribute to the interdisciplinary undergraduate, graduate, and professional teaching programs of the University. The ideal candidate will complement and extend existing departmental strengths, while building links to related translational research in neighboring clinical department.
Preference will be given to scientists focusing on structural analysis of biomacromolecules relevant to any area of cellular biophysics and applications are encouraged from investigators studying human physiology or pathology, signaling systems or membrane proteins. Establishing collaborative partnerships across disciplines will be strongly encouraged.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. and/or MD degree, applicable post-doctoral experience, and a strong publication record. Candidates must be effective communicators and be able to teach at a variety of levels. Candidates must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the United States at the University of Minnesota by the start date. Starting salaries will be commensurate with education and experience, and a substantial start-up package will be provided to establish the research laboratory.
