Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The After Deployment: Adaptive Parenting Tools (ADAPT) for Active Duty project is a research study being conducted by the Institute for Translational Research in Children’s Mental Health at the University of Minnesota. This study is taking place at military bases across the United States, including Forts Belvoir and Myer, Virginia. Assessment Technicians are needed to complete multiple in-home assessments (i.e. data collection) for the families participating as research subjects in this study on parenting after military deployment.
This work will take place on and around Forts Belvoir and Myer, including in participants’ homes. Ideal candidate can commit to this position for a minimum of one year and is willing to travel locally.
Work in pairs to complete assessments at families’ homes (mostly during weekday evenings and weekends)
Administer questionnaires to children between the ages of 5 and 14 at home visits
Administer questionnaires to parents and facilitate family interaction tasks
Provide schedule availability on a monthly basis
Travel to and from family homes
Collect and return equipment used for assessments to the Site Coordinator
Complete mileage reimbursement paperwork
Participate in in-house Assessment Technician training and period coaching sessions with study staff
Attend project meetings
High School Diploma/GED
A minimum of 6 months experience working with children and families
Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts
Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Ability to quickly build rapport with both adults and children
Comfortable going into peoples’ homes to collect study data
One year of experience working on research studies or familiarity with research methodology
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to strictly adhere to a written protocol but also adapt to unexpected situations
