The University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center is looking for a certified or certification eligible Veterinary Technician to work in Small Animal Wards. This position is multifaceted but has a strong emphasis on nursing care duties for non-critical patients. There are also opportunities to provide assistance to emergency and critical care technicians and use skills such as phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, collecting samples, radiology, oral and injectable medication administration. Our hospital has state of the art equipment and focuses on evidence-based medicine with a strong emphasis on learning and teaching.
Hours: Sunday - Tuesday Wards: 9 pm - 7:30 am & Wednesday ECC Float: 9 pm - 7:30 am

Hourly Salary Range: $15.90 to $27.80 USD/hour

Minimum/Required Qualifications Graduate of Veterinary Technician or equivalent program and a minimum of 1 year of experience assisting licensed DVM's with veterinary medicine procedures. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision. Must be certified or certified eligible which means certified, registered, or licensed in another state and be in good standing in that state.
Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria: Problem solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of veterinary medicine terminology, knowledge of proper restraint and handling of large and small animals. A willingness to be flexible to meet patient care needs. Certified technician with certification recognized in Minnesota. Two years of veterinary technician experience preferred. Proficiency with PC and software programs
