The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a 100% time contract faculty position with the possibility of renewal for an additional term or terms. This is a contract (term) faculty position at the rank of teaching associate professor (9402T). Teaching responsibilities may include the following: CHEN 3401W and CHEN 4401W (Chemical Engineering Laboratory) and CHEN 2001 (Material and Energy Balances). Actual course assignments will depend on applicant qualifications and department need.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a closely related field. Applicants should have a strong background in unit operations, ideally with experience in the use of process equipment for commercial production, research or teaching. Demonstrated capabilities in lab-based instruction and in doctoral and post-doctoral research is preferred.
Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of academic preparation and professional experience, evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher, and strength of recommendations.
Successful applicants will be committed to undergraduate teaching and will be capable of maintaining a laboratory facility for chemical engineering teaching, in addition to independently and collaboratively teaching chemical engineering classes, and participating in some service activities. Successful applicants will also be expected to contribute to the service needs of the department, college, and university.
