ABOUT THE POSITION: The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Health Care Management at the Instructor/Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2020. The individual hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching, research and service. The individual will develop and teach required and elective Health Care Management courses (such as Health Care Organization and Management, Health Services Research and Methods, International Comparisons of Health System, and Medical Sociology). There is also the potential to teach elective courses within one's area of expertise, with a possible focus in Legal and Ethical Issues of Health Care Delivery and/or Long-term Care and/or Quality Improvement. Currently, the teaching load is five sections (15 credits) per academic year. The creation of knowledge in the area of health care management resulting in its dissemination through the publication of refereed articles in recognized journals is required. The individual will be responsible for advising undergraduate students, working with a student organization, and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, School, campus, community, and professional organizations
REQUIRED/ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. ABD status (doctoral dissertation defended by December 1, 2020) from a regionally accredited doctoral program in health care management, health services research, health policy, public health or related field. Applicant must have completed a minimum of two years in residency during his/her program. No more than 25% of the credits for the degree can be online. 2. If the candidate has been in ABD status for more than two years, there must be evidence of, at minimum, manuscript submissions to a refereed health care management, health policy or public health journal. 3. Experience as instructor or teaching assistant of at least one university-level course 4. Strong written communication skills 5. The candidate must have Scholarly Academic (SA) qualification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ph.D. or Dr.P.H. in Health Services Research, Health Policy, Public Health or related field from an accredited, major recognized university 2. Experience independently teaching a Health Care Management, Public Health, or related course at the undergraduate level 3. Demonstrated evidence of effective teaching including the ability to use a variety of teaching methods in a diverse classroom 4. Documented record of a recently published peer reviewed article/s in a Health Care Management, Health Policy or Public Health journal. 5. Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures 6. Willingness to fulfill service responsibilities/expectations to colleagues, the department, school, campus, and student, community and professional organizations
