Lecturer in Social Work/Director of Field Education Whittier College and its Department of Social Work seeks a Director of Field Education with the rank of Lecturer. The successful candidate will provide the program and college with expertise in developing and administering the Field Education Program while also teaching and advising in the department.
The Whittier College Social Work Program. The Department of Social Work offers a baccalaureate degree accredited by the Council on Social Work Education Commission on Accreditation. The program attracts students of all backgrounds who are highly successful in advanced standing MSW programs and in professional practice. More than 90% of our students are admitted into advanced standing programs, graduate programs in other disciplines, or employed upon completion of their baccalaureate degree. The department works closely with approximately 50 majors, including 10-15 senior field placement students per year.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week Exempt Status: Exempt Full Time/Part Time status: Full Time Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

Qualifications and Responsibilities: The preferred social work Director of Field Education will have completed an MSW in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program with a minimum of two years of post-graduate practice experience. Candidates who have current California LCSW credentials are preferred, but not required. The candidate should demonstrate competence in developing and sustaining field placements, supporting student's readiness for field, ongoing monitoring of student progress, orientation and training of Field Educators. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and have a demonstrated ability to use instructional and/or assessment technologies.
Teaching is distributed over fall and spring semesters in addition to a January Term. The Field Director will teach field practicum seminars, micro practice classes, and content that fits program needs and faculty expertise. The Director of Field Education must be an excellent teacher, dedicated advisor to undergraduate students, contribute with service to the college, and participate in the programs CSWE reaffirmation of accreditation process. The Director of Field Education receives a 25% reduction teaching load to account for the administrative load associated with the position. The position therefor calls for teaching 18 units per year.
