The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital seek candidates for a full-time Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist. The rank of this faculty position is at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor on the Academic or Master Clinician Track depending on qualifications.
Job responsibilities: This full-time position requires clinical time primarily in the CVICU. Educational responsibilities include supervision, instruction, and mentoring of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellows, Pediatric Cardiology fellows, Pediatric residents, and medical students as well as a dedicated team of CVICU advance practice providers.
The University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital is a new, state-of-the-art children’s hospital that opened in April 2011. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit supports 12 CVICU beds and 12 medical/surgical beds with approximately 1000 admissions annually. The CVICU supports a growing Heart Center which includes congenital heart surgeons, a cardiac transplant program, and an ECMO program with a full range of VAD capabilities. Our Heart Center supports many academic physicians with clinical and basic science research initiatives.
Essential qualifications: Must be a licensed MD/DO and ideally have board certification in both Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Cardiology. Those with Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Cardiology certification who have completed at least one year of cardiac intensive care training or with a clear track record in providing care in a CVICU will be strongly considered.
