The Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota is accepting applications for part-time positions to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students for openings that may occur, in Fall 2019 (August 26, 2019 - January 8, 2020); or Spring 2020 (January 9, 2020 - May 24, 2020). Teaching may be for day or evening courses. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2019/20 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through academic year.
Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare for and teach courses, create course Canvas sites, hold office hours, turn grades in on time, receive official e-mails and respond in a timely manner, submit an activity report, and turn in student evaluations.
Minimum qualifications: BA degree in English or a closely related field and a minimum of one year college teaching experience or three (3) years of demonstrated successful professional experience in editing or publishing
Preferred qualifications: MA degree in English or a closely related field and two years or more college teaching experience and broad familiarity with English language, literature, and writing
