The purpose of this position is to promote and advance annual fundraising and alumni relations activities for Ridgewater College. This position works closely with the Vice President of Advancement & Outreach/Executive Director of Foundation, College President, Foundation board members and key staff to design, solicit, and manage external funding opportunities offered by individuals, alumni, corporations, and foundations on behalf of the college foundation to benefit the college.
The person in this position works to:
Expand the annual giving program through multiple donor solicitation channels and effective use of prospect research, analysis and database information;
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective and current donors;
Create and manage relevant budget for the annual fund, alumni relations and related activities;
Coordinate events which advance alumni engagement and donor fundraising potential;
Conduct research, prepare reports, and make recommendations to inform decision-making and strategies with regard to prospective donors using wealth information resources.
Much of the work involves face-to-face cultivation and solicitation and focuses on leadership and major gifts. Some evening and weekend work may be involved as well as regional travel.
The person in this position must be a strong team-builder and team member who is goal-oriented, skilled in decision making, competitive and inquisitive, ethical, entrepreneurial and creative, adept at data collection and analysis, and experienced in all areas of annual giving. The person must have the ability and skill to adhere to college policy, procedures and fundraising expectations and to effectively communicate the process to a variety of stakeholders.
Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, sales, or related field, or 2-5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, public relations or similar field
Demonstrated ability to ask for charitable contributions, primarily in a face-to-face setting
Ability to speak and write in a persuasive manner
Demonstrated track record of success in goal-setting, measurable achievement and follow-up
Skills in research and data analysis sufficient to successfully track donor giving trends
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working environment
Self- starter demonstrating initiative, creativity, ability to get results and work with confidential material
Experience coordinating events and possessing project management and organizational acumen
Proficiency with database software
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software to prepare presentations, reports and letters
Ability and willingness to travel (approximately 25% necessary) and work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Previous experience in higher education fundraising
Ability to work effectively with various constituencies (Ridgewater faculty and administration, staff and students, alumni, business community, Foundation board of directors, community leaders) and an ability to balance those perspectives
