One-year, full-time temporary position starts late August 2019. Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology. The interdisciplinary Department for the Study of Culture and Society seeks a colleague committed to undergraduate teaching and active scholarship. Area of expertise: urbanization, community, inequality. Teaching load is 3/4 in two semester schedule, with January term optional. Successful candidate will be able to teach introduction to sociology, urban sociology, and a course in research methods. Additional possible courses desired: inequality, social stratification, and related topics. Minimum requirements: PhD or advanced ABD in sociology; evidence of effective teaching; commitment to creating an inclusive classroom supportive of underrepresented categories of students; a developed research and writing agenda desired.
