Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
A full-time position at the Research 2 level if being offered at the University of Minnesota, Southern Research and Outreach Center at Waseca, MN. We are seeking a self-motivated and organized individual for a Researcher 2 position to join our researcher team. This position provides scientific and technical support for the manure treatment and bioenergy research at the Southern Research and Outreach Center (SROC) in Waseca, Minnesota. This individual will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) of the research team and assist with the all aspects of research. Duration: One year appointment with continuation dependent upon funding.
Position Overview / Responsibilities:
30% Assist in designing research projects; independently plan and perform complex, multi-step experimental analyses; record all experimental protocols and data; organize and interpret experimental results.
40% Perform experiments and analyze experimental samples. Prepare and run samples on various instruments and equipment. Responsible for generating, recording, and analyzing data. Provide presentations reporting data and scientific findings.
10% Prepare labs by purchasing appropriate equipment and supplies.
10% Oversee the use of laboratory equipment, organize and set up equipment for research projects. training personnel/volunteers and maintaining equipment as needed.
10% Perform everyday tasks such as laboratory cleanup (using aseptic technique), replenishing supplies as needed, remove hazardous and chemical waste.
Puts into effect what is required by defined job duties and clear objectives following established procedures and protocols; can alter the order in which work is performed but usually not the expected end result which can be improved, but not qualitatively changed.

BS/BA degree and 1 year of related experience or a combination of education and work experience to equal five (5) years.
