OVERVIEW: To provide general primary care outpatient services with a focus on quality women's health care to the UMD community.
Primarily deliver family planning and women's health care to college age students _70_% Obtain complete history and perform general physical examination including pelvic examination Initiate and perform appropriate screening and preventative testing such as vaginal preps, and Pap smears using best practices guidelines Provide appropriate counseling to meet health needs Initiate and supervise family planning Perform IUD and Nexplanon placements with established competency and proficiency
Secondarily deliver general medical care with consultation of physician available _15_% Diagnose and treat common, acute illnesses, and injuries such as URI, UTI, STDs, minor trauma, common dermatologic problems, abdominal complaints, headaches, etc. Manage walk-in patients/telephone calls Arrange patient referrals to other care facilities as needed
Assist occasionally with RN duties if needed _5_% Dispense medications per protocols Give immunizations, IM injections if needed Obtain throats swabs, blood and urine specimens as indicated Order laboratory work as clinically appropriate Assist physicians (obtain B/P, vision, temp} as needed
Contribute to "wellness" on campus through clinic educational and outreach functions _5_%
Miscellaneous Administrative and Office _5_% To assist other staff members as appropriate to work schedule To attend clinic/staff functions (staff meetings, retreats, in-services Abide by the Health Services Expectations for Professional Behavior Maintain patient confidentiality per HS and University policy Maintain a polite and respectful attitude toward all students and staff Meet all on-going requirements for professional licensure and certification To perform other work related duties as assigned
Salary Range: $37.89 - $64.43 per hour, commensurate with experience
This is a 40 hour per week, nine month, benefit eligible position.
Essential Qualifications: Unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in Minnesota. Certification as an adult, women's health or family practice nurse practitioner . A minimum of 6 years of experience as a nurse practitioner is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience and competency in providing women's health care including IUD placement and Nexplanon placement.
