Loyola University Maryland’s Technology Services Infrastructure department is searching for a Senior Systems Engineer. The Sr. Systems Engineer will ensure the stable operation of the in-house and cloud hosted server-based systems. Responsibilities include: plan, install, configure, maintain, support and optimize the software and configurations on all assigned server systems. Analyze and resolve end user issues in a timely and accurate fashion. Design and implement enterprise quality infrastructure for systems to meet the broad needs of the organization in the present and future. Provide guidance to junior members of the team Manage and administer server operating systems and their corresponding or associated software. Deploy systems and services that serve as infrastructure building blocks that other systems depend upon. Allocate proper server storage space allotments to meet application needs. Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in capacity. Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required. Provide on-call technical support. Ensure connectivity of workstations. Establish service level agreements with end users. Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights. Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures and associated training plans for system administration. Perform periodic security audits. Perform system backups to ensure user data protection and recovery. Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports. Recommend, schedule, and perform software upgrades, and/or purchases. Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, databases and data transfer. Design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, and software applications. Deploy and maintain server patch levels and all host security activities as deemed appropriate.
Bachelor's degree and 5 to 8 years of experience required.
Must have experience in overseeing design, development and implementation of software systems, applications and related products.
Must have excellent software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
